  28. INSTALLING WINZLE!
  29. ------------------
  30. Installing Winzle! is easy, but the specific process will vary depending
  31. on how you received your copy of Winzle!. Two examples are given below. The
  32. first is for copying from a floppy disk or CD-ROM. The second is for a ZIP
  33. file downloaded from a bulletin board system (BBS).

  36. From a diskette or CD-ROM:
  37. --------------------------
  38. First, create a directory for the Winzle! files:

  40. Using the MS-DOS Prompt        Using File Manager

  42. Type MD\WINZLE            Click on the root directory (C:\)
  43. Press [Enter]            Click on File
  44.                 Click on Create Directory
  45.                 Type Winzle
  46.                 Press [Enter]

  48. Next, copy the Winzle! files to the newly created directory.

  50. Using the MS-DOS Prompt        Using File Manager

  52. C: [ENTER]            Make sure you have two windows visible in File
  53. CD\WINZLE [ENTER]           Manager. If not, click on Window, then
  54. COPY A:\*.* C: [ENTER]           New Window.
  55.                 In one window, click on the WINZLE directory
  56. (This is an example of           you just created.
  57. copying from a diskette.    In the other window, click on the drive
  58. For a CD-ROM, substitute       and then the directory where the Winzle!
  59. the drive letter and            files are located.

  69.                    the mouse cursor to the WINZLE directory.
  70.                 Once the mouse cursor is over the WINZLE
  71.                    directory, release the mouse button. This
  72.                    will copy all the highlighted files to the
  73.                    WINZLE directory.

  75. Finally, install the Winzle! icon on your Program Manager display.

  77. Method 1            Method 2 (the easy way)

  79. Using either keyboard or    In File Manager, click on WINZLE.EXE in the 
  80. mouse, switch to the program       WINZLE directory. DO NOT RELEASE THE MOUSE
  81. group you want to install       button. "Drag" the mouse cursor to the
  82. Winzle! in (usually "GAMES"),       Program Manager program group you want to

  96. If you have a registered copy of Winzle!, repeat this step for BMP2WZL.EXE.
  97. This is the program that allows you to create your own puzzles from Windows
  98. BMP files.

  103. From a ZIP'd file:
  104. ------------------
  105. For the novice user, it's easiest to "unzip" and install Winzle! from the
  106. MS-DOS prompt (if you are an experienced user, you probably aren't reading
  107. these instructions, anyway, so we're going to ignore you for the time being).
  108. Please note that un-Zipping a file requires a copy of PKUNZIP.EXE, which is
  109. available on virtually all bulletin boards and online services such as Genie
  110. and CompuServe.

  112. First, create a directory for the Winzle! files. At the MS-DOS prompt, type
  113. "MD\WINZLE" (without the quote marks), and press [Enter]. Next, switch to
  114. this new WINZLE directory by typing "CD\WINZLE" and pressing [Enter].

  116. Next, unzip WINZLE.ZIP into the newly created directory. As an example, if
  117. the WINZLE.ZIP file is in the directory C:\DOWNLOAD, then type:
  118.  
  119.    PKUNZIP C:\DOWNLOAD\WINZLE.ZIP
  120.  
  121. Assuming you are in WINZLE directory, all the Winzle! files will be unzipped
  122. there (If that's not where you are, no telling where they will end up. Make
  123. sure you type CD\WINZLE before this step).

  125. (By the way, once you have unzipped Winzle! you can delete the WINZLE.ZIP
  126. file if you want. You won't be needing it anymore.)

  128. Now that the Winzle! files are properly located on your computer, all you
  129. need to do is install the Winzle! icon on your Program Manager display.
  130. Return to Windows and:

  157. ABOUT VBRUN300.DLL
  158. ------------------
  159. All MS Visual Basic 3.0 programs require the use of a library file called
  160. VBRUN300.DLL. This includes Winzle!. Depending on how you received this
  161. copy of Winzle! you may or may not have received VBRUN300.DLL.
  162.  
  163. If you DID receive VBRUN300.DLL with Winzle!:
  164. ---------------------------------------------
  165. You may not need it. Check your WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory to see if a copy
  166. is already there. If so, then you can delete the copy that came with Winzle!.
  167. If not, you need VBRUN300.DLL either in that directory or in the WINZLE
  168. directory. We recommend that you place it in the WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory
  169. so that all programs can share it, thus meaning you only need one copy on
  170. your computer.

  172. If you DID NOT receive VBRUN300.DLL with Winzle!:
  173. -------------------------------------------------
  174. You may not need it. Check your WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory to see if a copy
  175. is already there. If so, then you are set -- you don't need another copy.
  176. On the other hand, if there is NOT a copy already on your system then
  177. you need to get a copy (by the way, we apologize for not including it, but
  178. most BBS's and information services prefer that we don't. Otherwise,
  179. there would be thousands of duplicate copies of this file included with
  180. other programs, taking up disk space better used for other things). Like
  181. PKUNZIP, copies are available free on most BBS's and information services
  182. like CompuServe and Genie. If you got Winzle! off a CD-ROM, there is probably
  183. a copy available somewhere on that CD.

  186. REGISTERING WINZLE!
  187. -------------------
  188. Shareware is a means of distributing software. Under the shareware concept,
  189. software may be freely copied and passed along to others, or distributed
  190. through bulletin board systems or national networks.
  191.  
  192. As a recipient of a shareware program, you may use the software for a short
  193. trial period to determine if it meets your needs. If the software is not
  194. suitable, then you can discard it. If you decide to use it, you must pay by
  195. registering. When you register a Cascoly shareware program, you receive:
